Ride with GPS Announcement 3/20/23
FSR will begin having GPS mapping software Ride with GPS available to our members for Fun Run and driving tour events.
Beginning last year, several of our more tech savvy members began converting our Fun Run drives into a smartphone app called Ride with GPS. This application was developed for bicycle rides, but it will work with planned routes of any distance.
The advantage of using this app is that it shows on your phone a graphic display of the route to be followed and where you are on the route. In addition, the app will talk to you and give audible cues about upcoming turns, their direction and the name of the road you will be turning onto. This feature is especially an advantage for drivers on Fun Runs who do not have a navigator to read printed directions for them, or navigators who tend to get car sick trying to read in a moving vehicle. Obviously, listening to instructions is much safer than trying to read and drive at the same time; which should never happen.
Our plan for using this app will be to provide a link to each planned Fun Run route throughout the year. Based on the information from MotorsportReg, this link will be sent by email to everyone who registers for a Fun Run. Of course, printed route instructions will continue to be provided for every Fun Run, just as we have always done.

FSR member Steve Marcom has done a lot of work recently to get Ride with GPS ironed out for FSR use and we extend heartfelt thanks for his support..
